As web development progressed, attention turned to reviewing processes that were being automated for the first time and identifying areas where increased computing power could deliver measurable improvements over manual methods.

One such area was delivery estimation. With a wide range of packaging options, vehicle types and delivery services available, calculating every possible combination to identify the most cost-effective solution is impractical in a manual environment. By contrast, automated computation enables this analysis to be performed quickly and consistently.

As a result, the new system began delivering delivery estimates that were more accurate than those produced through manual processes, completing the task in a matter of seconds. Recognising the wider potential, the company now planned to extend this approach across all relevant variables within the quoting process.
